Recently Issued Patent — Spinal Surgery System

A newly issued patent reflecting years of iteration inside the operating room — the kind of practical, from-the-scrub-sink innovation that quietly reshapes a specialty.

Dr. Haroon F. Choudhri, M.D., FAANS has been issued a patent for a spinal surgery system developed over the course of his complex-spine practice.

The invention grew out of the kind of case Dr. Choudhri sees regularly at Hudson Neurosurgery: patients referred in with prior surgeries, atypical anatomy, or conditions other surgeons have called inoperable. When existing tools fall short of what the patient in front of you actually needs, the answer is often to design a better tool — and then, eventually, to protect that idea so it can benefit patients beyond a single practice.
